THE GYPTON DOG SCHOOL
THE GYPTON DOG SCHOOL
NEW PUPPY COURSES STARTING SOON. PLEASE CONTACT US TO BOOK A PLACE ON A COURSE. MONDAY EVENINGS OR FRIDAY AFTERNOONS.
With highly experienced and qualified instructors, our classes have been running in Coney Hall since 2004. Our training includes basic skills such as lead walking, recalls, etc. as well as life skills, fun tricks, and body awareness exercises to help your young dog grow into a confident and happy adult.
Coming to a class each weeek is a valuable experience for a young puppy as it teaches them to focus on the owner while in a distracting environment. You can't replicate that at home. It is also a fun activity for your puppy and will tire them out very effectively. It also usually involves a car ride (they need experience with that) and meeting new people and new environments. Hands-on training for the owners is also vital, and we can help you to improve your handling skills and your effectiveness in training your puppy, whilst also helping your pup to gain confidence in new situations.

Kennel Club Accredited Instructor in
Dog Training and Canine Behaviour (accredited in 2007)
The KCAI gold badge was awarded to instructors who had passed the Kennel Club Accreditation, which was run on similar lines to an NVQ, accredited by City & Guilds. Only instructors who had been teaching classes for a minimum of five years could apply for Kennel Club Accreditation, and there was a rigorous assessment process. It was, and still is, therefore a guarantee of good quality teaching and an assurance that up-to-date techniques are being taught from a sound knowledge base, in accordance with Kennel Club best practice and their own Code of Conduct for Instructors. The Kennel Club have now ceased offering this accreditation.
Jenny has also been a volunteer Assistance Dog Trainer with the charity Dog AID for over five years

Congratulations to Alex & Mica, Marie and Daisy, Philippa and Lilly, and Vicky and Widget from the Friday afternoon Advanced Class on gaining their Silver Award, and also to Heather & Willow for gaining her Gold Award. Congratulations also to Nadya & Blue and Jodie & Roddy who gained their Bronze Awards in the Monday evening Adolescent Class, and Grace with Wilson who also attained her Bronze Award.

Jenny and her Cavachon Pixie, at one of our displays during the summertime. All of our classes include fun elements such as recalls over low jumps, running through a tunnel, lying down on a mat, and stepping onto step stools. We include tricks, such as spin, weave, paw, wave a paw, go round, run to mat, and many others. It's very important to us that not only the dogs enjoy their training, but the owners do too. Teaching tricks as well as the normal discipline exercises broadens everyone's horizons and makes the sessions more fun!

Our structured puppy courses concentrate on life skills
for puppies as they grow up, including advice on food
and nutrition, the law relating to dog owners, handling
and grooming, nuisance behaviours and how to avoid
them, and all basic obedience exercises such as Sit,
Lie Down and Come when Called. The courses, which
also include fun elements such as body awareness and tricks, can be followed by ongoing training for young
dogs in our Adolescent Classes.
The training methods we teach are positive and motivational, using reward-based techniques within a framework of fair discipline and effective leadership. Adolescent Classes are open to any dogs of any age who need refresher training or whose owners just want to entertain their dogs, and expand their range of abilities
The classes are held at :
The Assembly Rooms, 16 Gates Green Road,
